Pre-Kindergarten Program

PRE-KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION WILL BE STARTING IN JANUARY. 

Jessie Duncan Elementary School is excited to have your child join our Family School community 

 

Pre-Kindergarten builds children's strengths and skills in a playful, language-rich environment. 

  • Learn to express themselves, share, and problem-solve
  • Improve communication and motor skills through specific intervention, exploration, and guided activities
  • Build social skills and confidence in a playful and welcoming environment
  • Discover new experiences, friends, and a love of learning

 

The Jessie Duncan Pre-Kindergarten program is intended to provide targeted early intervention to students with severe disabilities, moderate to severe language delays, mild language delays, or children, aged 4, who are identified as English as an Additional Language (EAL). Community students are also invited to attend Pre-Kindergarten as communication and social peer partners. 

Community students will be required to pay tuition of $200/month.

Pre-Kindergarten at Jessie Duncan School supports:

 

  • Children with a severe disability or severe language delay (Code 41 - 47) who are at least 2 years,  8 months of age, and less than 4 years, 8 months of age as of August 31.
  • Children with a moderate language delay (Code 48) who are 2 years, 8 months, and less than 4 years, 8 months of age as of August 31. 
  • Children with a mild/moderate Communication Disorder/Delay (Code 30) who are 3 years, 8 months as of August 31. 
  • Children identified as English as a Second Language (ESL) (Code 30) who are 3 years, 8 months as of August 31. 
  • Children who are community learners serve as communication and social peer partners. Community students will be required to pay tuition of $200/month.



Children who apply for Pre-Kindergarten will require an assessment to qualify for specialized support. To facilitate this need the Early Intervention Coordinator, along with the Speech and Language Therapists will assist the school in the identification, assessment, and evaluation of students who would benefit from attending Pre-Kindergarten.
